Aidan and I were reading the book when I saw that the movie was airing on one of our cable channels. I DVRed it and, now that we finished the book, we watched. Rarely do good books have movies that match the quality of the book, but I think this one worked.

The roles were well cast, and well-acted. the storyline stayed fairly close to the book, and it was fun for Aidan to see what he pictured in his mind come to "life." Some of the plot (in the book and the movie) needed a bit more elaboration from me for a 7-year-old to truly understand, but overall it was a good, fun, family movie with more depth than your average "kid movie.

" Read the book first, though....it will make the backstory in the movie easier to comprehend.
