Review of Holes (2003) by Jenny L — 31 Jul 2009
This movie will never be a timeless classic. I just read the book a couple days ago and really enjoyed the book, so of course I just had to watch the movie too. The movie wasn't as good as the book.
The book was definitely catered to kids but really showed Stanley's struggle and at points you were wondering whether him or his buddy Hector Zeroni were going to make it out alive in several cases; however, the movie was completely Disneyfied and little emotion and struggle put into it were dumbed down a little too much.
Basically, I probably wouldn't re-watch the movie (maybe if and when I have kids), but I'd certainly read the book again.
