Review of Holes (2003) by Jackson W — 23 Jul 2013
In more ways than one, Holes is the ultimate live action Disney masterpiece. Not only is the story so well pieced together that at times you wont think its from Disney, but during the course of its almost two hour run time there is not one scene or sequence where there is any boredom or confusion.
It may not be a perfect movie, but even those films that are rightfully deemed flawless usually has about one or two of those moments. Holes didn't, which ranks it among my all time favorites. It was way too cool how a story about a family that is under a curse from revenge of a fortune teller can directly coincide with this bizarre yet surprisingly entertaining Western theme of love, loss, and other ways of being deprived.
Everyone involved with this production should be acclaimed for bringing this to the screen the way it was supposed to be. People rarely talk about this movie, maybe because the dialogue is too short at times and the star of the movie was once known as Louis Stevens, but when you watch it just for fun, you see that it is a truly excellent family film.
