Review of Hoffman (1970) by Jack Y — 22 Jun 2008
Beautifully made. Sellers is a businessman with a complex about his less than handsome appearance, playing it with a quiet insanity, then sympathetically. Up to that point, this was a career-best performance and only surpassedperhaps only matchedby his later Chance the Gardener.
His aim: to convince his secretary (Cusack) that her fiancé is wrong for her and to win her heartby initially blackmailing her. Wonderful theme song by Matt Monro.
