Review of Hocus Pocus (1993) by B. W — 02 Oct 2013
From the viewpoint of a child, this was beyond one of my favorites. From the viewpoint as an adult, this movie was written for children. I would say it is a halloween special on tv that is for children and nothing else.
Still, I loved it as a child, and I love it as an adult. It represents a style of film and has a texture that suits the 90's babies it performs for. The details in styles similar to Hocus Pocus may not have the most rich story line or back story, but provide great detail into the set, costume work, and overall moral of the children acting.
This detail is not computerized, not thrown together, but focused on, and noticeable in the film. The detailing of the set is what makes this story so believable to children, from the book to the dust and tools in the home of the witches, Hocus Pocus is a classic and should be given far more respect than what is receives.
I watch it every year.
