Review of Hobo with a Shotgun (2011) by Toivo K — 01 Oct 2011
With a Budget of only 3 million, this has got to be the best exploitation film I have seen in years! This is how all movies should be made; low budget, imaginative, original and best of all.... NO CGI!!!!
This was made into a feature film after it premiered as a fake trailer for the Grindhouse double feature(made by a Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodreguiz, who had a HUGE BUDGETS and BIG NAME STARS...it was wasnt even truely "Grindhouse" at all! They just made another big budgeted, intentionally "artistc" blockbuster).
Rutger Hauer still has it after all of these years, his part as the hobo was awesome. The characters were interesting and the acting(though sketchy at times) was extremely decent, proving you dont need a huge budget to make a good movie.
This movie was extremly gorey and violent. Had tons of 80's Synth music, including Louis Loughheed's "Run With Us" at the end of the movie which fits PERFECTLY with the film. This movie will definitely remind you of an 80's movie.
