Review of Hobo with a Shotgun (2011) by Paul P — 09 Dec 2012
An uneven film that has left me undecided...
The plot is simple, a town is over run by thugs led by the drake and his sons and a Hobo with a shotgun sets about taking them down, That's it...
As another homage to the old grindhouse flicks, the scripting, characters and acting (apart from Hauer) appears to be quite poor, I couldn't really tell if this was intentional though. The violence in the flick is all about splatter and has no real impact so its fun to watch without entering disturbing territory. Overall, it desn't really work and the attempt to ape these older flicks and the tone of these stories falls a little flat.
Whilst that is the case, it is a lot of fun and is always watchable for the over the top bloodshed and language etc.
