Hobo with a Shotgun comes to us with perfect niched name. The film originally came as faux trailer for the double feature, Grindhouse. It was submitted in a contest and won. You can see the trailer uncut in YouTube.

The faux trailer had David Brunt as a hobo turning to vigilantism after witnessing the unending crimes that plagued a city. Now we have the film based on the faux trailer starring Rutger Hauer (The Hitcher, Blade Runner) as the killer hobo.

He jumps off a train a stops a town known as Hope and witnesses all kinds of deplorable and criminal activity. He tries to earn a few dollars to buy a lawnmower, but changes his mind when he sees a robbery.

Hobo with a Shotgun may not be smart or philosophical especially when it teaches us that lifeâ(TM)s problems can be solved by blasting them away; however, it is dang and wildly entertaining film with all kinds of action and gore.

The only thing that I have found a minus was the acting. The acting is very cartoonish which is a welcome, but I was yearning for faux trailerâ(TM)s acting. If you have seen that one, you will notice that everyone is over doing it with acting as there is a lot of yelling and screaming, but wildly amusing.

Itâ(TM)s like George A. Romeroâ(TM)s Day of the Dead the criminals take zombieâ(TM)s place. Still, I love Hobo with a Shotgun which teaches us when life gives you lemons, you blast them away.
