Review of Hobo with a Shotgun (2007) by Ian W — 04 Sep 2011
I went into this movie thinking it would be good and I was extra excited because it was filmed in my province. Then when it came out it was more like THAT MOVIE WAS F---IN' AWESOME. NOVA SCOTIA IS F---IN' AWESOME.
AWESOME. THAT GUY OVER THERE IS AWESOME. LOOK! A HOBO! Anyways. It was awesome. The whole film was garishly coloured, which lent it an A Clockwork Orange type feeling. The costumes were stylish and the set was unique; basically the whole movie just had a really appealing look, even the blood looked rather cool in some scenes.
And speaking of the blood, I know this flick is gorey but really, it's just so campy. it's not as campy as Eisener's Treevenge but it is. Pretty. Damn. Campy. Which personally I enjoyed it that way.
Another thing I'd like to address, that being the dialogue; we all know it's bad, it's offensive and whatever else. But whether or not that was intentional it was friggin' hilarious. Or it was at the point that it was so bad it was hilarous.
Either way, people laughed. Some people say you need a sick sense of humour to laugh at this movie and if that's the case we Nova Scotians are sick bastards because we roared. So yeah, I loved everything about this movie.
I've plagued every person I meet during the course of the day to go see it. If you're reading this you're indirectly one of those people and you should go watch it. NOW, B'Y. NOW. Do it.
