I used to scoff at the title and cover art. Then I somehow read that it wasn't necessarily a bad movie. From the start, I thought it was Tarantino or Rodriguez at work. Turns out, Hobo and Machete were fake previews for the Tarantino/Rodriguez Grindhouse feature. Then they were made into actual movies. I didn't finish Machete, but Hobo, for what it is, was pretty entertaining.

I definitely like the style. Made in 2011, the opening credits resemble something out of the 60s or 70s. From there, it is ultra-violent and unabashedly profane and sick...but somehow with style. On top of that, you have a vigilantic theme which is cool, and an uber-babe, which is great. As attractive as I thought she was as a prostitue, I won't even repeat how the cop described her attractiveness. And that is another hallmark of the movie...lots of one-liners.

So a pretty sick movie, but that's the genre. Most of it is really fake and therefore not disturbing, but a little of the violence was a little too close for comfort, usually around Dunsworth as the prostitute. Come for the violence, stay for the funny lines.
