Review of Hobo with a Shotgun (2007) by John P — 02 Sep 2013
The great Roger Corman once pointed out that it's ironically easier to insert serious social commentary into movies of the type generally deemed exploitation. This flick is a fine example of this. It is perhaps the smartest movie ever to be chock-full of extreme gross-outs.
A relentlessly entertaining love letter to Grindhouse cinema and hate letter to slime-pushers and customers. Yes, the extreme gore, situations and nudity. All present. But Hobo is just as likely to shock with the sharpness of its wit and point of view.
