Review of Hobgoblins (1988) by Tim S — 01 Jan 2014
I don't really know what these people were thinking when they made this piece of crap. Rick Sloane must have been going through a serious phase of "everything I do is great" because his work reflects it.
Hobgoblins is not only one of the worst tiny creature movies ever made, it's also one of the worst Gremlins rip-offs ever made. These movies were abundant in the 80's after Gremlins was such a big hit, the most notable of which would be Critters, but they were all pretty much off the mark and felt more like Roger Corman fodder than even the Joe Dante-directed classic could ever get close to.
And it wouldn't even be considered good Roger Corman. It would be the forgettable kind, and that's pretty much what this movie is. Thank Bob for the fellows at Mystery Science Theater 3000 for making this worth watching.
