Review of Hitman: Agent 47 (2015) by Saifur V — 09 Jan 2016
Wow, the tomatometer score on this movie is WAY off. It's especially weird that people are saying the 2007 movie is actually better. This is a significant improvement to the 2007 Hitman, not the least of which because unlike the latter this movie actually has the protagonist look and act like the video game version of 47. The acting is well done, the story is both good and actually looks like something out of a Hitman game, and the movie is filled with effective action.
Probably the only issue with this movie is the female lead. She goes from a helpless aimless drifter with no ability to stay calm under pressure and no indication of any combat training, combat experience, or anything else that could justify her sudden ability to suddenly start constantly showing up the actual protagonist throughout the movie starting about 30 minutes in with no justification other than "she's just designed to be better than him." These are the qualities of a major Mary Sue character, or in other words a character that is all but perfect without justification into a work.
