Review of Hitman: Agent 47 (2015) by Carlos Javier P — 15 Jul 2016
About midway through the film, I caught myself dozing off. So, I rewound back to where I last remembered to catch myself up, and wouldn't you know it, I didn't miss anything. And therein lies the issue of Hitman: Agent 47: It is nothing, much like its anti-hero.
The film follows Agent 47 as he protects a girl from a syndicate that is trying to get to her father. This is a plot that has been done time and time again, but this time around, literally nothing new is done.
The "twists" are telegraphed a mile out and the nonsensical plot is barely there to piece together the poorly shot and edited action set pieces. On the acting front, everyone fills the shoes of their cliches, and Rupert Friend as the titular assassin is so painfully dull, he'll probably kill you just by talking you to death.
And no one is helped out by cliche one lines and dialogue that litter the screenplay. On the action front, the CGI is laughably embarrassing and the action is tame and lame and poorly choreographed and shot.
And the funniest part of all is that there is a mid-credit scene that teases a franchise. Yes, the people behind this film thought there was franchise potential. That's scary.
