Review of Hitchcock (2012) by Lori B — 10 Apr 2013
Let's face it, with a cast that includes Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren you can be assured that the acting is going to be brilliant even if the storyline is a little weak...
The title is a little misleading as it isn't really about just Alfred or his life story... It's about the love story and amazing working relationship that existed between Alfred and his wife of 50+ years -Alma. They should have called it Hitchock and Alma, Hitch and Alma or Hitchcock and Hitchcock!
It follows the story of the making of Psycho - a film he and Alma self financed as the studios didnt want to take it on and shows how profoundly important Alma was to his work- a true homage given the era!
I thought their story was interesting and some of the facts surrounding the making of Psycho were too but other parts were weak or unnecessary.
Won't really appeal unless you are either a Hitchcock fan or interested in biographies... as I am both, I liked it.
