Review of Hitchcock (2012) by Ryan O — 01 Jun 2013
I'm always impressed at how Anthony Hopkins can make himself disappear into a role and he certainly does so here as well. Hitchcock is a behind the scenes tale of the making of Psycho and the fights he had to endure to get the classic film made.
Overall, the performances are top notch. Helen Mirren as Hitchcock's wife, Alma Reville is decent. But there was something missing to really make me love it. I'm not sure what it was, but the film felt incomplete and seemed to come off as more gossipy. Maybe its because it only focused on one aspect of Hitchcock's career, but the film felt empty as if the screenplay wasn't completely realized. I did enjoy it. And I would recommend it but this isn't a "rush" out and see type of film.
