Review of Hitchcock (2012) by Candace I — 09 Jun 2013
I did not know who Alfred Hitchcock really was apart from having heard his name in relation to mystery films. In this movie, I finally see the life drama of one of the most legendary filmmakers of all time. Little did I know that it was Anthony Hopkin who plays the role of Hitchcock..until I see his name on the end credits. The onscreen chemistry between Hopkins and Helen Mirren also seems rather odd...but okay, considering the fact that their characters have grown emotionally distant during the beginning of the film.
Overall, it is a fascinating film, as the director Sacha Gervasi shows very well two things: the atmosphere of 1950s California and the intricacies of film-making during that period.
