Review of Hitchcock (2012) by Kem W — 23 Jul 2013
How I do love movies about old Hollywood. This one looks at the making of "Psycho." I have no idea if things really occurred the way this film depicts, but we have a good story here. Hopkins is fine as Hitchcock though there are times when you're really hearing Hopkins intone the lines rather than the famous director.
Mirren shines as Alma. Others ably support. The only downside is that the make-up and prostheses used to turn Hopkins into Hitchcock could have been better. Or a different actor, closer in girth to Hitch, should have portrayed him.
There's also a little "camp" aspect to the movie that sometimes got in the way of the story. Recommended.
