Review of Hitchcock (2012) by Matt A — 05 Oct 2013
This was actually a good film, but for me it was dogged by a few dream sequences, that although gave insight to Hitchcock's thought process, took you out of the film for a few minutes which was a bit jarring.
Anthony Hopkins is brilliant as Alfred, but the make up was a little distracting and Helen Mirren is equally as good as his wife Alma. I wasn't too informed on the making of Psycho, so I found a few things informative and it was a nice touch that we had him talking to the camera at the beginning and end of the film as I know he liked to do a lot.
His reaction to the audiences screams during the shower scene was very funny, more scenes like this would've been appreciated. Despite the dream sequences this was, otherwise an insightful glimpse into one of cinemas legendary directors.
