Review of Hitchcock (2012) by Martin P — 01 Feb 2014
Unfortunate timing when this came out at the cinema as the BBC had just shown a far more faithful TV portrayal starring Toby Jones. This fails to capture Hitch as well and doesn't have the depth or authenticity in comparison.
Mirren in a hideous wig and Hopkins in layers of latex facial adornments cannot save the lack lustre script. A few choice lines cannot sustain an hour and a half of drama loosely based on fact. Suspend your knowledge of the truth and it might just hold water but it would be a struggle towards the end.
