Review of Hit & Run (2012) by Rory R — 29 Dec 2012
You want to like it cause it's Dax Shepard, and you can tell this is totally a Dax Shepard film, but there's too much wrong with it to truly consider it a good movie. The cast is pretty awesome and they play the characters well but they weren't written well enough for them to fully meet the potential they had.
Each character had their own little charm but I think from a lack of thorough writing to fully explore them and their dialogue they ultimately felt kinda bland. The plot also annoyed me, there was just too much wrong with it for me to take it seriously, even for a comedy.
I think they gave off the wrong impression when they made it seem like Alex Dmitri (Bradley Cooper) was going to kill Yul (Dax Shepard), because after that scene at the motel it was like the characters forgot what they were doing.
What I did love was the film making, for his debut in directing a blockbuster film, there was a lot of substance behind filming the car chase scenes. In reality they were quite boring scenes but the way he utilised the camera positions and angles really made it exciting to watch.
It's a good film to watch if you don't want anything too serious.
