Review of History of the World: Part I (1981) by Tyler R — 18 Feb 2009
Not as strong as the earliest films in the Brooks film library. It suffers from uneven pacing, especially when it gets into the Roman Empire. I sense that Mel Brooks didn't have a lot of ideas for some of the periods of history and enough/too many for others, so some look too short and others are almost distended in length.
To the classical musician, the cheap joke about the "Hallelujah!" chorus is especially funny.
My favorite part was the trailers at the end for the fictitious "History of the World -- Part II.".
