Review of History of the World: Part I (1981) by Jennifer S — 30 Jul 2009
This movie is funny because it is so ridiculous in that Mel Brooks ridiculous way. Madeleine Khan as the lewd, gum-cracking Empress Nympho is a hoot. And the song and dance sequence about the Spanish Inquisition? Genius.
Pure genius. Some of the jokes do fall a little flat and some of the actors' timing is not the best, but in general this movie is so unabashedly goofy, that it's hard not to laugh.
