Review of History of the World: Part I (1981) by Patrick C — 07 Jan 2010
This truly is a classic. I loved it as a kid and enjoyed it again as an adult for totally different reasons. Gregory Hines and Mel Brooks both bring down the house. It's one of those movies that you quote to people and they know the line.
"Sire! You look like the piss boy!".
"I give you these fifteen..CRASH....ten commandments!".
"The Inquisition, what a show! The Inquisition, here we go!".
"Jesus!" "Yes?" "What?" "Hm?".
"Now we're armed with mighty joint!".
There were a few low lights though...the 2001 intro scene goes on a bit too long and the scenes in Rome with Madeline Khan are a bit weak for me. I have never been a big fan of hers and she gets too much screen time for my taste.
