Review of His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th (2010) by Douglas E — 03 May 2009
A sickly, self congratulatory blowjob of a "documentary". This is just an hour and a half of publicity for the recent remake. As such it's people continuously saying how good the films are.
It takes about 20 minutes for everybody to just sum up the plot of every film. Then we hear about their favourite bits. There's nothing on the actual making of the film and the importance of the film is overstated.
Can't help but laugh when when the actress that played Annie says how people write to her saying "what an inspiration the character is". That's just bullshit. Some of the best moments come in the end credits where people seem like actual fans, rather than being forced to plug the latest outing.
Does it ask why such a cheap, repetitive and simple franchise has spawned such an icon? No, it simply states that he is an icon. It's a film with nothing new for the fans, and nothing to interest the anybody else.
