Review of His Girl Friday (1940) by Darryl J — 22 Sep 2008
One of the most revered early Romantic Comedies, and for good reason. The overlapping dialogue and quick, charming wit it's known for hasn't showed much rust almost 70 years later. It's silly and simple yet smart and emotionally complex.
It looks like a lot of the tricks Cary Grant's character does to keep Rosalind Russell in town seems pretty weaselly and screams desperation. But this is all irrelevant, because Cary Grant=Sexy.
