Review of His Girl Friday (1940) by Rhanda D — 11 Feb 2009
Hilarious -- sparkling, subversive sarcasm delivered at a lightning pace by the ever-wonderful Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell. This is what I want romantic comedies to be -- both romantic and genuinely funny! The outdated, static look of the film betrays the screenplay's theater background, but the frantic pace of the dialogue and plot more than make up for the stagey feel of the sets and cinematography.
A true delight, even more so for journalists.
