Review of Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959) by Flike S — 14 Jun 2008
It's odd that Resnais made Last Year at Marienbad two years after this film. It seems as if Hiroshima is a fine tuned version of Night and Fog and Marienbad combined. Even though it was released in 1960, I myself was able to connect with these people at one level or another.
Our past always haunts us, and scars are always uncovered. It's just how we choose to deal with them which makes us the people we are. With Georges Delerue's score, wonderful performances, and perfect timing (91 min), this picture is a must see.
