Review of Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959) by Sol H — 24 Jul 2010
Probably the best French new wave film I've seen, which to be fair, isn't a lot. It's not really my cup of tea (especially the ending), but there's no arguing that it's well made and very intelligent as well as emotionally mature.
Basically, it's a very good film. I just don't particularly like it. I like arty stuff, but there's a limit.
Personal enjoyment: 7/10.
Actual quality as a film: 9/10.
