Review of Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959) by Orlando M — 03 May 2011
I was just looking at Rutger Hauer's list of 5 favorite movies and this one is there. The way Hauer describes it reminds of how I felt about it when I saw it - "You can do this in a movie? Can a movie be this beautiful?".
I don't know how old I was, but I was surely younger than 13. I think I saw it before Marienbad, which somehow left a more lasting impression. A funny thing is, I never really liked Marguerite Duras books that much, but the writing in this movie is superb.
