Review of Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party (2016) by Daniel H — 05 Aug 2016
WOW! Hillary's America was totally beyond my lower expectations since I didn't read anything first, watch any previews, hear any discussions or figure out anything beforehand. I had been informed by multiple people to watch it, who normally don't get involved on this level or usually don't care about politics or history.
The non-revisionist approach to the first hand historical accounts, journaling, slavery, party politics, art of persuasion, fact finding and study was the masters level. Most people will NOT watch this film and remarkably the crowd I saw tonight was mixed diversity, young, old, minority, etc. I would say that most people who really need to see a movie like this that I know never will and that is ok. However, not to discredit that if you want to do the challenge, just like myself with watching Hillary, Bernie speeches even though I am a constitutional republican, this would be something to stretch yourself a little.
I would simply watch it for another side, a diversion from all the noise, a patriotic movie, an American historical account, etc. The very worst thing that could happen is making you walk out during the film. I only saw one person do that tonight, because it's not a nice kit kat, but it ends in an EPIC way and keeps you centered on America. It raises the bar on research and helps you see the very things I see all the time behind the scenes and it's never the media who tells it like it is. I am hoping that documentaries like America: The Story of Us can also learn from the inaccurate portrayals of blacks and immigrants, who are every bit as capable in all ways without society pressing harshly to keep them restricted from rising upwards.
There were a few moments when he was talking to all the people in prison reminded me of my experience as well. I was talking to everybody, made friends, asked why they were there and spoke to peoples hearts. Politics is a devil's playground and a movie like this simply exposes our deepest fears, but in the end you are glad to have just a slight comprehension to what is unseen. That goes for all areas of life, love, loss, etc.
Only watch a film like this if you are willing to take the 'RED' pill in the sense of The Matrix because it's not to be entertainment like a slasher movie or special effects type. It's knowledge transfer based.
