Review of Highway to Dhampus (2014) by Colby B — 10 Apr 2017
After seeing Highway to Dhampus and having a Q&A with the director himself, it was clear to me that the work was made with a lot of care, but in my opinion it lacked a lot of the strengths of a powerful drama. Coupled with clunky dialogue, we see the story that supposedly tries to make us "feel" something, but to no avail. Stale acting, and poor dialogue make this film difficult to watch.
There are moments of nice cinematography, but I feel as if those were almost always used in transitionary moments. It is admirable that Nepalese people were used in this film, and that locations were interesting, but I feel as if the film did not reach the potential that it had.
