Review of Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) by Corey N — 30 Mar 2010
Let's just pull any bland dystopian sci-fi script out of the pile and make it a "Highlander" movie, shall we? Containing just a modicum of continuity with the original story--just enough to make things incredibly awkward--"Highlander II" was far ahead of the Hollywood curve on terrible remakes/reboots/sequels no one really needed. Beyond bad, and worth seeing only if you like Christopher Lambert botching one-liners.
There's a mildly interesting story about how the movie was taken away from Russell Mulcahy and sliced and diced into the incoherent mess that it is. However, when you admit it was your idea to meet the question "Why mystical immortals?" with the answer "Space aliens!" your credibility is dubious indeed.
