Review of Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) by Alex S — 31 Jan 2016
The original version of this film is no doubt shit, due to the change to the back story that was told in the original film, killing a possible big budgeted series of fantasy films special thanks to some twats in Argentina (the filming location) that decided to take over production entirely, leaving with Russell Mulcahy and Christopher Lambert in pretty much quick sand, as they could not back out of the film due to the insurance company's threats to sue them.
The Renegade Version however doesn't have all the Planet Zeist shit that some Argentinian twats added to the film, making it a slightly better film than the original cut.
There are still faults though, Sean Connery's Ramirez is still back from the dead (which makes what is now the new back story confusing as he appears in those scenes).
But other than that, the special effects are decent, which shows that they had a big budget for this film, hoping that they would make a big budget action franchise out of Highlander like what happened with The Terminator.
And the great Michael Ironside makes a awesome villain.
And of course, Sean Connery is always entertaining, even though it makes no sense for him to be in the film.
