Review of Highlander: Endgame (2000) by Ramos J — 17 Jun 2009
A woman is a temple built on a sewer.
Connor and Duncan MacLeod are brothers who have grown up with the curse of ?their can only be one.? They travel the globe living their lives as immortals that can only be killed by decapitation. Connor has always been haunted by the murder of his daughter, Heather. As it becomes apparent that one of the brothers ancient foes killed Heather, Connor and Duncan will have to work together to hunt down their arch nemesis.
?Men can only mend their ways after making a mistake.?
Douglas Aarniokoski, director of The Safe Side, Animals, and the upcoming Red Sonja remake, delivers Highlander: End Game. The storyline for this film is a bit frustrating since each film in the series has MacLeod playing the same game over and over again. I did like the new characters; specifically, Donnie Yen was awesome in this movie. The acting was mediocre and the cast includes Christopher Lambert, Adrian Paul, Bruce Payne, Donnie Yen, and Lisa Barbuscia.
?Honor isn?t in the weapon. It is in the man.?
I have watched all four Highlander films and this is probably tied with Highlander 2 in terms of its quality. Highlander 3, with Mario Peebles, is easily the worst film in the series. The first Highlander film is so fascinating conceptually and the acting is first rate; however, that may be the only film in the series worth watching. It is too bad they did not do more with this series so it could compete with Lethal Weapon and Die Hard for the crown of best series that ran in the 80s.
?Every life I touch ends.?
Grade: C+.
