I don't know why they picked Christopher Lambert for the lead role in this movie. On paper he couldn't be more miscast. He's french, he's cross eyed and he can't act. Somehow though....it worked.
Highlander is one of my favourite movies for so many reasons.
It's basically a two hour rock video with swords. Russell Mulcahy as director came from a background of making music videos, and it's his style that really set this movie apart from the pack in the mid 80's. This combined with Queen's soundtrack which is one of the best ever, make for a unique experience that many have tried to copy since.
I remember seeing this movie when it first came out and was completely blown away.
Apart from Roxanne Hart's appalling 80's fashion sense, the fx probably date this movie considerably and the sharper definition of blu-ray doesn't help matters, but I still think this movie stands up as a classic.
Btw don't even think about watching the sequels...."There can only be one.".
