Review of Highlander (1986) by James N — 23 Sep 2009
Christopher Lambert stars as Connor MacLeod, a Scottish warrior in the 1500s era, who is stabbed by his own enemy Kurgan, but doesn't die. He is immortal along with others in the world, including Kurgan who is immortal too.
In New York City 1986, MacLeod still roams around by the name Nash, fighting other immortals and trying to hide his true identity. But when Kurgan roams the streets looking to kill MacLeod, they must meet to battle it off with a sword fight that will claim one of their lives.
"There Can Only Be One." Highlander isn't quite one of the many great memorable movies of the 80s, but it's pretty good and thoroughly entertaining in ways. The story is pretty original and pretty cool.
The sword fights and action are decent, but never strike as stunning or amazing, and the special effects are totally 80s. In the end though, I liked the film enough to buy it, but I would give it a rent, unless you find this for a pretty low price.
