A superb film that looks at one young woman's struggles to find faith in her evangelical community and still value independent thought. Farmiga, in her directorial debut, manages to bring us real characters who defy stereotypes and caricatures, showing their vulnerabilities and frailties without mocking, and providing no easy answers.
