Review of High Strung (2016) by Terry M — 22 Aug 2016
High Strung is the kind of film that is rare today - one the whole family can enjoy together. It is so refreshing to see a film that can show the mix of classical music & dance with modern dance, with the edginess of street performers, but without the foul language so many films use today. Yes, cursing & bad language is a sad part of everyday life these days, but it is still possible to have a film show street edginess without having to listen to the bad language or see the violence. Thanks to Michael & Janeen Damian for producing this wonderful film.
The music will stay with you long after the film is over, and you will want to watch the dance scenes over again! I loved the way the relationship of Ruby & Johnny developed, and it was refreshing watching each of them gain respect & embrace each other's very different art styles & interests. Then to merge their artistic passions, along with the very talented Switch Steps, climaxes into a finale that must be seen to be believed - a truly amazing combination of outstanding choreography & inspiring music! High Strung is a film you will want to add to your DVD collection, to be enjoyed over and over again!
