Review of High Sierra (1941) by Greg P — 25 Aug 2008
This one together with the Maltese Falcon made Bogart a lead actor after having spent a decade playing smaller parts. It is by all means a competent movie and gets better towards the end it has aged considerably in some ways (I think we shall never understand the mechanics of love in 40's, these people fall in love so shamelessly fast it just boggles the mind).
Clearly worth the while for the Bogart connoisseur, or anybody with an inclination towards the era or the genre for that matter.
