Review of High School Musical (2006) by Derence R — 04 Jun 2011
> > > Summer vacation is over; and students all over the Philippines will hit classrooms once more as classes will officially begin this week. But before anything else, I can't skip the moment to review one of the popular school-based teen-flicks in recent years.
- Back in 2006 when I was a high school sophomore, my classmate Clark (who sells DVDs back then) convinced me to watch "HSM". He told me all the hype, the coolness, the goodness of it; but I'm not into musicals back then. It all changed when I saw his recommendation , and I just felt a certain giggle of high schools's magic.
- Disney could do no wrong in making such themes. I'm so relieved hearing those teen-y songs, and the cast especially Vanessa Hudgens as Gabriella (who has a Filipino blood by the way), are all brilliant representing this generation. It's traditional of a boy-girl cheesy love story with all the distractions around, but other than that, this pic revitalized and gave new hope to musicals. I really had nice time watching it.
> BestMoment:
- The ending when the entire school gathers in the gym to celebrate; singing "We're All in this Together".
> BestQuote:
- "GETCHA' HEAD IN THE GAME!".
