Review of High Plains Drifter (1973) by Bart R — 13 Jun 2007
Great film and one of "The Stranger" characters for Eastwood. Revolutionary in the way it presented fronteer life in a not-so-positive light. For that reason, "The Duke", John Wayne himself disliked the film and told Eastwood so.
Despite Wayne's reveiw, I felt it was a great film, and helped Eastwood break out of the mold of earlier westerns, thusly allowing him to later deliver such performances as the one in Unforgiven.
