Review of High Life (2018) by K H — 04 Oct 2018
What happens when lifers and death row inmates agree to go on a dangerous mission into deep space to perform various dubious scientific experiments in exchange for glory, redemption and or a chance at freedom? A provocative, evocative, sometimes tender, sometimes repulsive examination of human nature and morality/moraes aboard a clunky, claustrophobic spaceship, where, for the crew, earth no longer exists.
Fascinating, audacious, stunning, languorous. It's a film that buries itself into your head. Do yourself a favor, go see it, decompress and process it, then run to see it again. It's even better the second time.
Strong acting across the board. Robert Pattinson gives an enigmatic, commanding performance and Juliette Binoche is also fantastic as a seductive, mad scientist.
