Review of High Fidelity (2000) by Amanda . — 25 Jan 2010
"What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?".
I always enjoy seeing John Cusack act, as he is one of my favorite actors. However, High Fidelity isn't on my top list of favorite Cusack films. The story was interesting enough with a bit of romance and comedy, the characters were great, my favorite being Barry, played by Jack Black, he's hilariously funny in everything I've seen him act in. I can't put my finger on exactly what or why I didn't enjoy about this film but I was so glad when the ending came. I definitely wouldn't give it a second watch.
