Review of High Fidelity (2000) by Lidiya M — 08 Feb 2010
The plot seemed intruguing; I liked the concept of reliving John Cusack's, the poster boy of all things romantic, top five breakups. Whimsical? Eh, slightly. This movie doesn't have the charm that people link early Cusack work to.
And the rest of the cast left something to be desired; whoever thought putting Jack Black into this film would liven up the "musical homage" was deeply misled by Black's reputation. Jack Black likes to play himself, though in "High Fidelity," it seems like he was just slightly tamed.
Overall, not the best picture I've seen my man John do.
