Review of High Fidelity (2000) by Jake D — 17 May 2011
How is it that a film about such a huge asshole (John Cusack's character)can be so entertaining?
In High Fidelity John Cusack plays Rob Gordon a man who owns what is basically a failing record store, and has only tow employees (Jack Black, and Todd Louiso) who are both very funny as the totally obsessed music nerds.
The main point of the film is Rob looking back on his past relationships to see where he went wrong with his current one, so he can try to win her back.
The film is very funny, and relate able to most not so much to myself, but others whom I'm aware of.
It's possibly the best role I've seen Cusack play he does is so well that even though I found him to be an asshole, heck he even admits to being an asshole in the film, and even with everyone thinking he's just an asshole I still wanted him to succeed in his attempt to salvage his relationship. Now that is how you know it's a good performance.
It is an all around entertaining film that is worth looking into for you music snobs, or just some random individual still see it.
