Review of High Anxiety (1977) by Kevin S — 05 Jul 2007
As a kid aged 6, my uncle was asked to take me to the movies one day. At the twin theater there was the choice of Mary Poppins and this film. My uncle asked if I REALLY wanted to see Mary and I didn't (honestly I was dreading the thought of hearing Dick Van Dyke's bogus British accent the entire morning) so he took me to see High Anxiety.
There were several Hitchcock references I didn't have a clue about but I still laughtd my butt off. Anyone getting bombarded with bird droppings or getting attacked in a shower with a newspaper is pure comedy GOLD to a 6 year-old, Hitchcock or not! In later years it took on a whole new meaning once I became for "film literate" and to this day is still one of my favorites.
