Review of High and Low (1933) by Alex V — 10 Jul 2007
Wow. Toshiro Mifune is certainly Japan's Marlon Brando as Akira Kurosawa is its Martin Scorsese (minus the coke habit). I had never even heard of High and Low (aka Heaven & Hell) before going to see it.
All I have to say about that is: FOR FUCKING SHAME. It is visually brilliant and deliberately paced, if not a little linear. It is japanese film noir perfection. GO SEE IT.
