Review of High and Low (1933) by Will G — 05 Oct 2007
This ransom thriller from Akira Kurosawa is electric, stylish and even moving. I've heard critics call it a film noir, but it's much more than that. A wealthy businessman is taunted by a man who blackmails him by kidnapping his chauffer's son.
As the detectives move in, things heat up.
