Review of High and Low (1933) by Jason B — 08 Aug 2008
A literal translation of the film's title would do it better justice, as the viewer passes from the heaven of the affluent perched above the ghettoized mass below to the purgatory of the meandering police investigation and finally to the hell of the capture and final scenes of the film.
The visual tone alone makes it apparent enough. A great condemnation of corporate ruthlessness, too.
